Ruyton XI Towns Charter Day

Date:
21 Jun 2008 - 10:00 - 21 Jun 2008 - 17:00

We took the Light Fantastic Trailer to Charter Day in Ruyton XI Towns on the 21st of June. This year it is the 700th anniversary of the original Charter in 1308, and so the day had a mediaeval theme with mediaeval entertainments and lots of people in costume, including us!

Despite poor weather there was a good turnout for the event, and before long we had a throng of monks, knights, damsels, squires and footmen lining up for their free low energy bulbs and powerdown plugs. On the day we handed out 800 lightbulbs and 160 powerdowns which will provide lifetime savings of more than 115 tonnes of CO2, and cash savings of £55,056, or enough to ransom one king and two minor barons!
